This hands on series is designed for novice and intermediate female drivers, but advanced drivers are welcome too! Drills and topics will include Vehicle Tech Inspection Process & Requirements, Vehicle Dynamics, and Hands-On AutoX drills that are applicable for the road and the track alike. These drills are the foundation of vehicle dynamics and once confidence is gained and drivers start to feel the forces acting on the car, we can begin to teach car control at a higher level. As this is an instructional event, helmets are not required for all vehicles. Helmets will be required for convertibles without hard tops, as well as any car that has a roll bar or cage.
We hope that many of you will enjoy this and find that your newly developed understanding will create a transition from a reactive driver to a more proactive driver who will enjoy the next level of motorsports training and events.
Hands on Drills:
The slalom exercise helps to isolate the steering wheel, teaching the student how to make the correct steering inputs as well as establishing good hand and eye coordination. Students will begin to feel and control the lateral forces acting on the vehicle while in a turn. Learning how small increments of speed affect the forces being applied to the vehicle is essential for safe vehicle control.
Students will learn to maximize the potential of the vehicle’s brake system without losing steering ability. Although ABS braking systems are emphasized students will be trained in both ABS and non-ABS systems depending on what the student is driving.
This exercise provides the student with the opportunity to make split second decisions and to maneuver around simulated road hazards. The Evasive Maneuver Exercise is excellent for demonstrating to the student the importance of time and distance in a real-world application as well as decision making skills and line reading for autocross training.
For this class level we will learn the different types of turns and the basic rules of cornering skills and challenges.
We will link together all of the skills we learned during the hands on drills into a fun and dynamic autocross course.
Please note: this event is for female drivers only.
